I decided pretty early on that we would use the Conrad as our base in Osaka. It was 90k Hilton points per night (or 360k for five nights with the fifth night free). The cash price was around $4500 all-in for the same five nights. It was such a great deal I decided to splurge and get our daughter her own room even though the hotel does allow three adults to share a room.

The hotel is in the Umeda area of Osaka sort of between the two main stations (Osaka and Shin-Osaka) to the north and the main tourist areas of the city to the south. It’s actually on the 33rd to 40th floors of an office tower. The lobby is on the 40th floor with huge windows. This picture was obviously taken during the day.

We arrived around 8:15pm and got the good news that my wife and I had been upgraded to a junior suite. At check-in, we were offered cold towels and sake and informed that my daughter could also have complimentary breakfast each day, which we weren’t expecting as she does not have Hilton Gold or Diamond status. Both rooms were booked under my wife’s Hilton Diamond number.

My daughter ended up with the king room we had booked and she was thrilled to have her own room, especially considering she was going to be out late the night of the concert. She was only two rooms down from us on the 35th floor. Our bags were brought up to our rooms and we decided to go grab a quick bite to eat. I’ll have more about that later in my Osaka Activities post.

Sorry for the dark pictures of the suite, but I wanted to grab some before it was too “lived in.” It was on a corner and had lots of space including a desk, lounger, long sofa, king-sized bed, separate W/C and even a tub with a view.

The next morning, I was able to open the blinds and get some pictures of the view. We were sort of facing the side toward Osaka Bay but had pretty good 180 degree views of a lot of the area.

We had some goodies left for us in the room including tea and Japanese candy (which I didn’t like but my wife enjoyed).

We enjoyed our breakfasts at the Conrad. I think my wife and I ate breakfast every day and our daughter made it four of the days. It didn’t blow me away like some other luxury Asian hotels we’ve stayed in like the Park Hyatt Siem Reap or Conrad Singapore, but it was very good. There was a small daily a la carte menu with egg dishes and a special noodle dish of the day plus an extensive buffet of salads, fruit, pastries and other items. Here’s some pictures of the buffet:

The okonomyaki benedict (first picture) was a unique item that incorporated a local delicacy and I ordered that a couple of time. Overall, the breakfast was very good and we were glad to have both rooms receive this benefit. We could also order espresso-based drinks or tea from an extensive list.

We didn’t dine at the hotel other than breakfast, but there are several well-regarded restaurants there. The hotel was also right above a subway entrance, although there was a bit of a walk underground to get to the actual platform. The subway line took us right into the heart of Osaka.

On one afternoon, we got back from a visit to Nara and had some time to kill before dinner so my daughter and I went to the pool area for a swim. It’s on the 38th floor and also has a full spa and gym facilities.

It looks like you can join the health club there based on the locker room having keys and some assigned lockers. I would imagine if you work in the building, it’s probably convenient.

Although you can get to Osaka Station (for local trains) or Shin-Osaka Station (for the high-speed Shinkansen) either by walking or a fairly quick subway connection, we just took taxis there as we wanted to save my wife’s bad ankle from extra walking. They were short rides and the hotel always had them ready to go so there was no need to use Uber. They all took credit cards as well.

The only sort of negative thing about the hotel is having to take two elevators to get to and from your room, but that is the price of occupying only the top floors of the building. Overall, we really enjoyed the Conrad Osaka. It was a beautiful hotel in a convenient location with great service and friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again if I found myself back in Osaka, especially if it continues to be a great deal with Hilton points.
