Hawaii Trip Part 5: Lookout and Lay Out

Waipi’o Valley Lookout

This morning we were starting to get used to the time change so we slept in until the late hour of 5am. Around 6:30am, we drove over to Waimea and had bagels and coffee at Waimea Coffee Company. From there, we drove over to the Waipi’o Lookout and took some pictures.

We didn’t hike down to the beach

We stopped briefly on the way back through Waimea at the Midweek Farmer’s Market before heading back to the Waikoloa area. England was playing Denmark in the semi-finals of the Euros and we stopped at Starbucks to borrow the Wi-Fi for the end of the match and saw England advance to the final.

We headed over to A-Bay beach and found a shady spot. I went snorkeling and saw some turtles and colorful fish.

A-Bay Beach

A-Bay is where Lava Lava Beach Club is located and we had lunch there. The service was very slow, but because of the slow service, a manager gave us free drinks so we didn’t complain (much).

We headed back to the Hilton around 4pm and changed. I returned our snorkels to Snorkel Bob’s nearby. Then rather than driving somewhere, we decided to walk over to the Tropics Ale House which is within the Waikoloa Resort area. I took advantage of not driving and tried several Hawaiian microbrews. There was live music and pretty good bar food.

All in all, a pretty relaxing day with some scenery, some beach time and not too much driving. We only had one day left on the Big Island before it was time to visit Kauai.
