Hotel 1000 Seattle Review (FHR/Hyatt)

As I mentioned in the previous post, I had a very quick cross-country business trip to Seattle and I needed a one night stay. I booked this back in May and I still had my Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts $300 credit to use for the first half of the year. I booked the Hotel 1000, a Hyatt Unbound property as the rate was reasonable and I would not only be able to apply the FHR credit and benefits to the stay, but I would also earn a Hyatt elite night credit toward requalifying for Globalist for 2027.

I arrived in Seattle just before 4pm and because I didn’t have anything urgent that evening, I decided to take the light rail to the hotel. It was quite a long walk to the airport station (although the walk to the Uber/Lyft area wasn’t much shorter). The train took about 45 minutes but was comfortable enough.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was given a sheet with the Amex FHR benefits and informed I had been upgraded to a water view room. As I was alone, I didn’t push for a suite upgrade.

My 4pm checkout was confirmed (although I would have had that being a Globalist anyway) and notably, I asked if I could just purchase items at the spa if I wasn’t going to have time to actually book a spa service. I was told that was fine so after I dropped off my things in my room, I went down to the spa before it closed and bought some things for my wife. I was a bit annoyed that they still charged a tip on this purchase and I had to pay for that on top of the credit (as it doesn’t cover tips). The hotel told me it was automatic on all spa charges and couldn’t be removed.

My room was nice, with a decent view of Puget Sound and the sunset.

There was a glass water bottle in the room that I could refill at a water station. I received two drink coupons and I was able to use those at the lobby bar for some complimentary old-fashioneds.

That night, I walked over to a local institution, Von’s. They have $7.99 Martinis and $8.99 Manhattans. I limited myself to one as I had a hearing the following morning. The pizza was great as well.

Because I stayed on east coast time, I was in bed at 8:30pm local time. I was up at 4am local time and went to the hotel gym. It wasn’t great but at least it was quiet at that hour.

Breakfast is at the hotel restaurant and the menu was good. I think it would be a bit tough to fit within the $60 FHR limit for two people if you wanted to both order an entree and coffee plus tip. I was meeting a local colleague and she only ordered the fruit so I was easily able to stay within the limit. Sorry I didn’t get a picture of my pork belly benedict but it was very good as was the latte.

I ended up leaving around 2pm and because I am Globalist, the destination fee was waived from my bill. Note that if you are not Globalist, you will have to pay this at the hotel even if you booked through FHR. I took a Lyft to the airport rather than walk uphill to the light rail station and then have the long walk back to the terminal from the airport station.

Overall, I enjoyed this hotel. It is located in a great spot, near Pike Place Market and the waterfront, but also walking distance to other downtown areas like the Space Needle and museums. The area was quiet on a Monday night, but I could see it being quite busy on a weekend.
