When I booked our Tokyo hotel, I went back and forth between the Park Hyatt (recently reopened after a long renovation) and the Hyatt Centric. I had narrowed it down to those two because they both were allowing the use of a Suite Upgrade Award for our dates and with three adults, we needed the extra space. In the end, I found floor plans for each hotel and saw that the Centric standard suite had an extra half-bathroom so that clinched it for me. I also think it is in a better location for a first trip to Tokyo as the subway is nearby and there is lots going on in Ginza at all hours of the day and night.

We arrived at Tokyo Station around 5pm from Kyoto and we navigated the taxi rank and language issues (thanks to showing the Japanese name of the hotel on my phone). We arrived at the hotel around 5:30pm and were shown to the suite.

We were reunited with our large suitcase sent from Haneda airport containing all of our Tokyo clothes. I was also impressed that the hotel had proactively set up a bed for our daughter and put three of everything in the suite (water bottles, robes, pajamas, slippers, etc.)

The bedroom and main bathroom was nicely appointed.

The half bathroom was just off the main entrance to the suite.

The living area had a central unit that contained the coffee maker, fridge and minibar.

We had hotel branded water bottles for each of us and a water filling station was just down the hall from our room.

There was a large closet area that separated the living room from the bedroom on one side and closable sturdy doors on the other. The closet is to the right in the below picture. The frosted glass wasn’t super private, but we could also close off our room with sturdy sliding doors so our daughter could have the bathroom and closet area if she needed it.

The Hyatt Centric was by the book and not as generous as the Conrad Osaka in giving our daughter included breakfast. It wasn’t much of an issue as on day one we skipped breakfast to take a Tsukiji Market tour and on day five since we were headed to the airport fairly early. On two other days, she slept later. It was only on day two when we were headed to Mount Fuji that we all needed to eat breakfast. They charged $55 including tax and service charge for her breakfast which was definitely not worth it.

We did find the breakfast very good though. It had coffee drinks made to order and an extensive buffet, including made to order eggs, croffles, dim sum, soups, soft serve ice cream and other eastern and western breakfast items.

The hotel has a ground floor lobby on the street where you enter but then take an elevator up to the rest of the hotel. The breakfast restaurant and main bar are on the 3rd floor. The main lobby is on the 4th floor and the rooms are on floors 5-10. This was yet another hotel that required two elevators to get to and from our room. This is the restaurant seen from the main lobby above.

One of the interesting features of the hotel is an area in the main lobby with free soft drinks and snacks for all guests. They also have a cooler full of beer and other alcoholic drinks available from 5-9pm, although it was still there at other hours and wasn’t policed. There were also Space Invaders and Pac-Man arcade games.

Overall, we enjoyed the hotel. The location was great as there was lots of shopping and dining nearby. We walked to Tsukiji Market twice and the metro was close by for easy connections to the rest of Tokyo. It also was quite close to Haneda Airport when we flew home at the end of the trip.

I would stay here again, although on my next trip to Tokyo, I might try a different area just for variety. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.
