We had quite a choice of lounges at DFW Terminal D before our flight to Japan. My wife and I could have each visited the Capital One and/or Amex lounges, but our daughter would not have had access to those. Plus, they are getting a bit old compared to the other options in the terminal. I briefly visited the Cap1 Lounge in March and wasn’t super impressed.

There’s a brand new Plaza Premium Lounge which looks nice, although the elevated First section requires an additional payment to access. This lounge might be good for those flying economy with a Priority Pass account without access to any of the credit card lounges.

Of course, there’s also the AA Flagship Lounge, which is where OneWorld business and first class travelers are usually sent. We spent a lot of time there before our flight to New Zealand in March and while it was OK, it didn’t blow us away.

That left the brand new Chase Sapphire Lounge, which was conveniently near the JAL check-in area and on the way to our gate. The lounge had just celebrated its first 30 days open when we visited. We actually all had access individually, as I have a Ritz Carlton card for which my daughter is an authorized user and my wife has a Chase Sapphire Reserve. We just used my Ritz card plus the two allowed guests to keep it simple. There was no line to get in at 9:30 on a Monday.

The lounge actually sits toward the check-in/security side of the concourse and not in view of the runways like the AA and Cap1 Lounges. Thus, the view from the large windows is just of the security checkpoint.

As for the lounge itself, it runs to the left from the entrance, starting with the bar and separate whiskey bar area and some seating with self-service soft drinks nearby.

Following along to the left, there’s the buffet area. There was a pretty good selection for breakfast, plus a QR code menu. For some reason (incompetence or hunger, you pick) I didn’t get pictures of the menu, but there are 3-4 food items along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There are also spa services and shower rooms you can order from the QR menu.

The blue corn butterscotch pancakes from the QR code menu were really good but super indulgent so we split them. I also ordered a bagel with cream cheese.

Overall the food was very good. We could also order coffee drinks on the menu for delivery to our table.

Continuing down to the left from the dining area, there are bathrooms and showers plus a family room and additional seating areas. The lounge was fairly busy the whole time we were there, but not full.

After breakfast, we moved to more comfortable seats.

My wife tried to order a facial on the QR spa menu but all the slots were full until after our flight was due to leave. She settled for a 30 minute rest pod.

There were also cubicles to get work done available in the lounge.

Before we left around 11:15, they brought out lunch so I grabbed a few pictures of the buffet. It looked very good.

We enjoyed our time in the Chase Sapphire Lounge DFW. The breakfast was tasty with some local touches and there was enough seating for us in both the dining area and the lounging area.

I think this will be my go to lounge at DFW Terminal D for the foreseeable future, unless I have access to AA Flagship First Dining at the Flagship Lounge as that access has just been expanded to AA business class travelers. After our visit to the Sapphire Lounge, we headed over to our gate to board the JAL A350-1000.
