Following my visit to the JFK Amex Centurion Lounge in Terminal 4, I took the AirTrain one stop to Terminal 5 to check out the TWA Hotel. This hotel has been open a few years on the site of the old TWA terminal. It retained the design of the original terminal building with two mid-rise hotel wings built on either side.
I needed a quiet place for my 3:30pm conference call, and I was hopeful of finding one at the hotel. To get to the hotel, I had to exit the AirTrain to the parking garage, go down to the ground level, and walk past a construction area. I’m fairly sure you can also get to the hotel directly from Terminal 5, but this was the most direct route for me. Before my call, I explored the lobby and public spaces and took some pictures.

There was a model of the old JFK TWA Terminal in the middle of the lobby.

I walked over the “bridge” between the lobby and bar area to grab some more pictures.

I was also able to get a picture of the old Lockheed Constellation airliner that sits outside the window between the hotel and the terminal. I believe you can tour the plane and even have a drink in there during certain hours.

I found a quiet space on the upper level of the public area for my call, and it took up just about all of my remaining time. I had to walk over to the AirTrain and to Terminal 8 before it ended.
The TWA Hotel looks very impressive. The rates are a bit high for an airport hotel and you can’t use points to stay there, so it’s unlikely I would actually spend the night there. However, it’s not a bad place to spend a few hours if you don’t have lounge access or need a quiet place to get some work done.

Yes you can enter the hotel directly from terminal five. I stayed there in September. It’s pricey but super convenient. And I loved the whole 60’s vibe. The rooftop pool and bar overlooking the airport is pretty unique.
