Suite Life of Football Part 4 – London Heathrow British Airways Galleries Lounge North and British Airways LHR-MAN Club Europe Review

Lounge entrance

After my arrival from JFK and bus transfer to Terminal 5, I got through security quickly and still had some time to visit the BA Galleries Lounge. As it turned out, my flight was delayed about 45 minutes so I didn’t need to rush.

There are two BA Galleries lounges in the main part of T5 plus another in the B concourse. I went to the larger South lounge when we were on the way to Dublin in October, so I decided to give the North lounge a try. I had last been here in 2018 and it really hasn’t changed at all. It’s definitely the smaller of the two lounges and was much more crowded than the South lounge.

The entrance is upstairs at the North end of the terminal. There’s a buffet, self-service bar, soft drinks and coffee/tea machines. I didn’t get too many pictures as it was very crowded the entire time I was there.

As I had just eaten breakfast on my flight, I just had some porridge and a coffee to pass the time. I found a spot overlooking the large terminal windows and the runway.

When my flight was finally assigned a gate, I walked over and waited to board. This flight was on a BA A321neo with around seven rows of business class. Despite the new plane, there’s still no WiFi. I was in seat 3F, which I managed to get assigned when I had checked in for the flight as BA charges for business class seat assignments, and they are all basically the same on these intra-Europe flights anyway.

Our taxi was surprisingly quick for a busy Thursday morning. The weather had cleared somewhat in London by this time so we were able to get up to Manchester quickly. It still always amazes me that BA can get a meal and drink service out to the business class cabin on a 150 mile flight. Imagine US airlines being able to do that!

We were even given a choice of meal:

I chose a sparkling water and the smoked salmon. It was actually quite tasty along with warm bread and a small dessert.

We landed around 40 minutes later than originally scheduled and I then made the long walk from Manchester’s decrepit old Terminal 3 through Terminal 1 to the train station where I caught a train to Liverpool. I had a few hours to rest at the hotel before the first of three football matches in four days.
