Delta SkyClub Minneapolis G18 Review

I flew Delta back from Minneapolis to Atlanta on a Sunday evening. I was able to confirm a seat in Comfort Plus at the time of booking thanks to my Delta Platinum status. My gate was at the far end of the G Concourse which is in the middle of a renovation. It’s quite far from the entrance to the terminal and security. I had to walk through a long construction zone before I reached the renovated portion of the terminal where this fairly new SkyClub sits.

Its one of three SkyClubs at MSP. One is on the other side near the C Gates and another is near the F pier. The G18 SkyClub is actually the largest, even though there aren’t that many gates open in this part of the airport. That made it fairly uncrowded even on a busy Sunday evening in September.

Upon entering the club, you can either take stairs or an elevator to the second level and the main entrance. I scanned in my boarding pass (just three visits left this year!). The club design did not remind me of any other newer SkyClubs like LGA, JFK A Concourse or ATL D Concourse as it had a long bar near the entrance, but the food was further back in the middle of the club.

The buffet had several hot dishes, a separate area with veggies and dips and another separate area with sandwiches and desserts.

There was also a drink station with cold and hot non-alcoholic beverages.

The club had lots of different seating areas, most of which had one or more TVs showing the Chiefs-Eagles game which I wanted to watch before my flight.

There was also a pretty cool SkyDeck with a separate bar and even an outdoor area, which I’m guessing would probably would be closed in January. It was climate controlled so I’m not sure why it needed to have a separate door.

I enjoyed an early dinner while I waited for my flight to begin boarding. Although the lounge got a bit busier as it approached 5:30pm, it never really felt super crowded and there was no line to get in when I left around that time.

Whether it’s because many people aren’t aware of this lounge or (more likely) because it’s so far from most of the Delta gates except the ones close to the lounge, this SkyClub is a welcome break from the usual crowded hub lounges. I expect that when the construction is done and there’s more gates nearby, this lounge will get more crowded.
