We were supposed to be going to France at the end of the month, but we’ve postponed that trip (and canceled the award flights on JetBlue and Air France). With the additional trips we each took in July, we have too much going on with work to take another 10 days away. My wife also needs to get her ankle worked on again and we’re hoping that will improve her ability to walk and hike next year. Hopefully, we’ll do the France trip another time. The benefit of booking everything with points and miles is that the cost to unwind the trip was relatively small.
Instead, I have a bunch of domestic trips for the rest of the year. We already went to Marco Island last week, but this time we stayed at the JW Marriott so I’ll have a full review of that experience coming up. I also plan to attend three different points and miles meetups: Travel on Points in Minneapolis, Chicago Seminars, and ZorkFest in Las Vegas. I also have a business trip to DC and a family trip to Brooklyn to babysit our nieces.
Next year, we have some interesting potential trips on our radar. I will take my annual Liverpool trip sometime in the spring as I couldn’t really fit it in to the fall this year. I expect we’ll fly to London and stay there with me taking a day trip to Liverpool for the match. We may have a family trip to somewhere in France or Italy as my mom wants to rent a house for a few weeks and have family join her there. We’ll see if that one actually gets off the ground. We also promised our older daughter that we would take her to Japan after her college graduation. At the time, it was mid-covid so we postponed that trip for a while. We may try and finally do that trip in August as that’s when her favorite Japanese band may be playing a concert in Osaka. It’s also our 30th anniversary in late May so we need to do something fun for that.
Planning trips can sometimes be almost as much fun as taking them. It looks like I’ll be having lots of fun planning (and re-planning) trips next year.
