YOLO Solo Trip Part 21 – Delta SkyClub ATL Concourse D Quick Review

This is way bigger than the last lounge

I flew Delta from Toronto to Atlanta and I was fortunately upgraded to First Class about three days out as a Delta Platinum Medallion. I suppose the Saturday midday flight time probably helped with upgrade availability. I generally don’t review domestic flights (either first or main cabin) on here unless there’s a meal involved because they are mostly identical and would be boring to read about. This one was no exception as it was pleasant and unremarkable.

My flight landed about 20 minutes early and my daughter was a bit delayed picking me up. Since I had time and we landed in Concourse D, I decided to stop by the brand-new SkyClub that was opened a few months ago. There used to be two tiny SkyClubs in Concourse D, but with the construction to widen the entire concourse piece by piece, a new central location was built above the concourse. The lounge is now the second largest at Atlanta, just behind the massive one at Concourse B. It incorporated a lot of new design features and reminded me of the JFK Concourse A SkyClub.

There is a long bar in the center of the club and then a double-sided buffet toward the rear. The bathrooms are toward the back as well. I grabbed some lunch and found a seat. It wasn’t too busy around 1:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. I didn’t notice that the food was any different than what you would find for lunch in any of the other Atlanta SkyClubs.

There were screens playing sports and news and plenty of different seating areas throughout the lounge. Most of the seats had easy access to power and USB ports. I liked that they had tables for one as I often find the tables for two or four can waste a lot of space when many people visiting the lounge are solo travelers.

My daughter was on track to arrive around 2:30pm so I left about 20 minutes before that to make the trek on the train back to the main terminal for pick up. It was nice to see her, but I was already sad that my long-planned YOLO Solo Trip was over. I hope to take another one someday to try some different airlines and products.
