I’ve been posting about planning this trip for months, but it finally happened last week. I was able to fly Emirates Gamechanger, Emirates A380 First Class, Qatar A380 First Class and Etihad A380 Apartments within about six days. I also stopped for couple of nights in Bangkok, had a free hotel in Dubai and a 20 hour layover in Doha. The trip was conceived when my wife and younger daughter decided to take a trip to Poland with a women’s group so I was left with some potential free time to take my own trip.
The trip started with an American Airlines first class positioning flight to Chicago booked with 9,000 Alaska miles. Before the flight, I had a chance to visit the American Airlines Admirals Club in Atlanta for the first time in a while. In Chicago, I rented a car and drove to a nearby nature reserve for a long hike. I thought that was a better use of my time than sitting at a lounge for seven hours. Back at O’Hare, I checked in with Emirates and visited the LOT Polish Business Lounge, a newer much needed lounge at T5. That night, I flew to Dubai on the 777 Gamechanger First Class.
In Dubai, I was chauffeured to and from the JW Marriott, where I was also able to squeeze in a visit to the Dubai Mall. The next morning, I visited both the Concourse A and B Emirates First Class Lounges in Dubai before boarding the A380 for Bangkok and getting my first onboard shower and bar experience. In Bangkok, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt and visited the National Museum, got a massage and did some shopping.
I left Bangkok via Qatar Airways and visited their excellent lounge at Bangkok airport before boarding the A380 for Doha. Onboard, I got to visit their bar which was a lot of fun. In Doha, I spent the night at the Hyatt Regency Oryx near the airport and took a fun desert tour the next morning. After a quick nap at the hotel, I went to Doha airport to visit the Al-Safwa Lounge before my short flight to Dubai in QSuites. At Dubai, I was picked up by an Etihad chauffeur and driven the hour to Abu Dhabi airport, where I got to spend some time at the Etihad First Class lounge and then flew in the A380 Apartments all the way to Toronto. In Toronto, I changed terminals and took a Delta First Class flight home to Atlanta where my daughter picked me up after about an hour, where I got to check out the new Concourse D Delta SkyClub.
I’ll be posting this report over the next few weeks. I have tons of pictures and opinions to share on all the flights, lounges, and hotels. I hope you enjoy reading this report even a fraction of how much I enjoyed taking this trip. I will update the links below as each part gets posted.

Wow! I don’t think I have the bandwidth to do this myself, but will enjoy following along. We did a RTW trip (combination of flights and long cruise) in 2024 which included the longest flight in the world at the time-EWR-SIN flying eastbound (18 1/2 hours).
