I wrote about our luggage issues on the way home, but at the start of the journey, we had a pleasant hour at the Executive Lounge at Antigua’s small, but nice airport, VC Bird International. This will be a quick review, but it’s good to have lounge options at small airports. This one is accessible via Priority Pass.
After we got through exit immigration and security fairly quickly, the lounge was down at the end on the left side of the terminal near Gates 1 and 2. We showed my Priority Pass card along with boarding passes and our passports and we were allowed access to the lounge. We were each given tickets for a free wine or beer. We ended up not using them and I just left them on the table so hopefully someone else used them.
The lounge is basically one big room with bathrooms at the end on one side and what looks like a buffet on the other side, although the buffet did not have any food on it. Instead there was a small menu to order from.

Here is the drink menu (which you could order from at the bar or from a server) and the food menu (only available from servers). We ended up just ordering some cookies and soft drinks.

One thing I loved about this lounge was the outdoor deck. It had a view of the runway and I watched a British Airways 777 (leaving on their fifth freedom route to St. Kitts before returning to London) take off.

Our gate was right outside the lounge and I think they did make gate announcements in there, but it was almost impossible to hear it clearly due to the bad audio system. Overall, the lounge was a pleasant surprise as it never got crowded, had A/C units throughout to keep things cool and had the outdoor deck to enjoy our last bit of fresh air in Antigua.
I hope you enjoyed reading about our Antigua trip. I’ll have an update on my YOLO Solo trip next week as things get finalized. I also have a quick trip to New York in a couple of weeks for my niece’s birthday party and will post a review of my Brooklyn hotel stay. Then in July, I’ll have a full trip report of my YOLO Solo trip with detailed reviews of all the first class flights, lounges and hotel stays in Dubai, Bangkok and Doha.
