2025 Antigua Trip Report Introduction

My wife and I had a quick three-night anniversary getaway to Antigua last week. We stayed at Hermitage Bay, a Small Luxury Hotels property bookable through Hilton. The hotel consists of 30 standalone villas, some on the beach and some on a hillside. Booking the hotel includes all food and drinks (with a few exceptions like caviar and high-end champagne), plus booking three or more nights gets you transportation to and from the airport included along with a fast track through immigration on arrival.

We used 150,000 Hilton points per night to book, as we did not currently have any Free Night Certificates to use. Unfortunately, last month, Hilton devalued many top properties overnight and this hotel is now 190,000 Hilton points per night for a standard reward making the Free Night Certificates (for now anyway) an even better value to use there.

Antigua is not the easiest place to get to from Atlanta. We ended up flying there nonstop on Delta, as they have one flight per week on Saturdays. We flew home on American Airlines via Miami and it was quite a saga as I will explain. I’ll also review the hotel in two parts. I’ll first go over the “hard product,” the suite, the resort and the activities offered. Then I’ll go over the “soft product,” the food, drinks and service. I’ll also have a quick review of the lounge at Antigua’s small airport. I was planning to also review the American Airlines Flagship Lounge in Miami, but as you will find out, we didn’t exactly have time to visit that lounge.

I will update the link to each part of the report as it goes live over the next few days.
