Status Run to the UK Part 11 – Cathay Pacific First & Business Lounges T3 LHR Reviews

Cathay First Lounge Heathrow T3

After a great evening of Champions League football and Liverpool pubs, I made my way back to London for the trip home. I had a smooth, if cramped, train journey to Heathrow and made it to the Terminal 3 departures area just before 1pm.

I went through Fast Track security, which was very quick except that I forgot to remove my small plastic bag with my liquids so I had to wait through a secondary check. All of the One World lounges in T3 are fairly close to each other. As a One World Emerald flying BA First Class, I had my pick of lounges from BA, Cathay, Qantas and AA plus there’s an American Express Centurion Lounge nearby. For those flying Delta or Virgin in business (or with certain status levels), there’s also the famous Virgin Clubhouse in a different area of the terminal. It’s fair to say that T3 is probably the best terminal at Heathrow for lounges.

As I only had about 90 minutes before I would have to head to the gate, I decided to stop in and review two lounges (well, three technically). I first stopped at the Cathay lounge complex. I found the entrance and took the elevator up to the lounges.

After showing my boarding pass and passport, the check-in agent directed me to the first class lounge area. The two lounges are connected and I was able to check out the business lounge as well while I was there.

My first stop at the First lounge was the dining area. I was shown to a table and perused the food and drink menus.

I decided to order champagne to drink (they were pouring LPGS which I enjoy) and then the wonton noodle soup and dim sum (which included shu mai, a shrimp wonton, and a steamed BBQ pork bun.

Everything was delicious. I had another glass of champagne and some dessert. I could not resist the crumble with custard and ice cream.

After lunch, I moved over to the seating area for a few minutes. There are some great views of the apron and taxiways. These chairs looked comfy but they were all taken.

I also took some pictures of the self-service food and drinks that were available in the lounge.

Before I left to head over to the BA lounge, I decided to walk through the business side of the lounge. It’s also very nice, but much larger. It has a noodle bar and a sit-down dining area as well. Most of the food and drinks are self-service though.

If you only want to visit one lounge or you’re pressed for time, I would probably choose this lounge over the BA lounge. The only downside is that many people are doing their research and making this informed choice now so it does tend to be a bit busier than the BA lounge in T3 in both the First and Business Class sections.
