Before our flight home from Washington, DC, we had the opportunity to visit the newest Admirals Club at Reagan National Airport. As I mentioned in the previous post, I had access thanks to my temporary British Airways Gold status which provides OneWorld Emerald status granting me and one guest lounge access even on domestic American flights.
The club is at the far end of Terminal 2 near Concourse E. We were standing by for a much earlier flight than we had originally booked, and the stand-by flight was departing from this concourse. This is the first Admirals Club that has been redesigned in the new template supposedly being introduced across the system, but I expect those redesigns will be quite slow to roll out.
The agent working the front desk was very helpful in terms of letting us know when we should go to the gate and that we should let the gate agent know we are the first two on the standby list. We had about an hour before that, so we entered the lounge and had some lunch.
The lounge was not crowded and quite large. There are two other Admirals Clubs and DCA is not a huge airport, so I expect this lounge never gets very crowded unless there’s a ton of weather delays.

There’s a fireplace in the middle of the main room that overlooks the taxiways. As it was 100 degrees in DC that day, it was obviously not turned on.
The main buffet was over by the bar on the other side of the check-in area. It was fairly extensive, with hot dishes, sandwiches, cold cuts, hummus and other substantial food. There was also a freestyle soda machine with lots of options as well as a fully stocked, serviced bar.

Similar to the SkyClub, most of the better alcoholic drinks had an upcharge, but there were some free drinks available.

There was also a smaller food and beverage area near the fireplace section with some canned drinks in a fridge along with chips and other snacks. I managed to find some with a bit of local flavor.

The restrooms were, as you would expect in a new lounge, very nice, although one of the sinks was out of order. The staff were friendly and promptly cleaned up dirty dishes and glasses.
Overall this was a very nice lounge. If was a regular AA/DCA flyer, I would get the AA Citi Executive credit card to be able to access this lounge.
We left after an hour with hopes of catching our standby flight and thankfully, we made it onboard in the last two seats. If we had not been able to catch that afternoon flight, we would at least have had a comfortable place to wait for the next flight in this new Admirals Club.
