SE Asia Trip Part 27 – Transiting HND and ANA Lounge HND Terminal 2 Review

The ANA Lounge T2

When we arrived at Haneda, we were in Terminal 3, where most of ANA’s international flights arrive and depart. As more flights have been added post-Covid, several international flights have moved to Terminal 2, including all the JFK flights, so we had to transfer to that terminal. This involved following signs and going to a bus transfer.

It was very similar to the process at Heathrow for transiting between T3 and T5 if you’ve done that before. I had to do that twice on my trip to Liverpool last fall so it was like deja vu, except in Japanese and exactly on time.

The bus arrived exactly when they said it would and departed for T2 where we got a tour of the entire airport.

Once we arrived at T2, we had a very fast transit security check and thankfully, the ANA lounge was just up an escalator right past security. The lounge is huge, and is basically one giant room with lots of different seating options. There are some large windows but not really good views if you want to see any planes.

When we arrived, the lounge was fairly empty so I went to the shower area where there was immediate availability. I had read about long waits for showers at T3 so I was pleasantly surprised that T2 was much better (or perhaps it was just the time of day). The shower room was very nice with a toilet, sink and places to store things without putting them on the floor.

The best feature was a thermostat, allowing me to lower the temperature so that the shower room didn’t get too hot which is a problem in most of the showers I’ve used in other lounges.

Following the shower, I checked out the food and drink options. They were plentiful and varied.

I tried the curry and some breakfast food. There were also some interesting tea and coffee options. The lounge had some quiet rooms, but they only had chairs and not loungers which seemed kind of silly. Heaven forbid someone might get too comfortable.

I had assumed (wrongly) that there would be international adapters available or universal plugs, but my wife’s laptop plug didn’t work at most of the outlets. We did find a working one in the business center next to the copy machine.

After a pleasant few hours in the lounge, it was time to board our flight to JFK in The Room. Luckily our gate was very close to the lounge.
