SE Asia Trip Part 19 – Le Saigonnais Domestic Lounge Saigon and Vietnam Airlines Economy Class SGN-HUI Reviews

Bye Ho Chi Minh City

We had an 11:25am domestic flight to Hue so after one last great breakfast at the Park Hyatt Saigon, we gathered our things and ordered a Grab around 9am to head to the airport. Traffic was heavy and it took about 40 minutes to get to the airport.

Check-in and security was fast. I had Sky Priority thanks to my Delta Platinum status and their SkyTeam partnership with Vietnam Airlines. In fact, adding my Delta number to this booking allowed me to change not only the date, but also the destination when we rearranged the trip for no additional cost. The ticket was $101 per person and I could not find any award availability for the route with Air France Flying Blue or Delta SkyMiles.

The domestic terminal at SGN is fairly compact and we had access to the Le Saigonnais Lounge through Priority Pass which was near Gate 10. The lounge was fairly busy, but had a nice spread of food and drinks.

We weren’t hungry after our breakfast, so we stuck with soft drinks. I did try a weird green drink that was actually terrible.

There was also a funny sign in the restroom. No standing on the toilet!

A little before our boarding time, we headed downstairs and found our gate, which had actually changed since we checked in. On top of that we had to take a bus and then board the plane via stairs which my wife was thrilled about with her ankle boot. Did I mention it was also very hot by this time?

VN1372 SGN-HUI A321
Scheduled: 11:25-12:55
Actual: 11:28-12:55

I was able to select preferred seats, but they were just closer to the front, not extra legroom or anything fancy. A wet washcloth was handed out before takeoff, which was appreciated due to the heat, as were the overhead air vents on this A321.

The flight was fairly uneventful. A bottle of water was handed out by the flight attendants, but there was no choice of drink or snack provided. Sorry I realized I did not get any pictures of the seat, but it was the exact same seat you will get on a domestic economy flight in the US, except older and more worn.

We landed at Hue right on time. It’s a very small airport with a few gates, but thankfully there was a jetway so we could avoid the bus/stairs again. We were met outside baggage claim by our hotel driver and we set off for Hue.

Up Next: Visiting Hue
