We arrived at the Park Hyatt Saigon for our three night stay around 7:15pm. I knew we had been upgraded to the Lam Son Suite (one of the standard suites at the hotel) as I had applied a Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award to our points reservation. The check-in process was quick and easy. We were then escorted up to our suite on the 4th floor.

Just like at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, you could see and feel the difference with the artwork, furniture and other decorating touches in the suite. We also received a bottle of wine (which we ended up not drinking) and some other snacks as a welcome gift.

The view from our room was out toward the front of the hotel and showed the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City. The soundproofing was excellent and the windows all had electronic blackout shades.

As I am a Globalist, we received a letter entitling us to two drinks at the hotel bar. We also were offered breakfast in the restaurant each morning. Breakfast was fantastic, if a bit busy. You could order things like pho, French toast and other dishes off the menu plus there was a huge buffet with just about every Asian and Western breakfast dish as well.

One afternoon, I had some time for the pool, which was on the 2nd floor. There’s a landscaped area you walk through to get to the pool area. There are plenty of loungers, covered and uncovered, towel service and food and drink service available.

I didn’t get to the spa area to take any pictures but I understand it’s very nice. On the last evening, we had our free drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, there was a limited elite menu for the Globalist benefit, but the mai-tais we had were still very good. They also provided us some chips with our drinks.

The Park Hyatt Saigon is an iconic hotel. It used to be the US military headquarters in the 1970s before it was transformed into a hotel and eventually a Park Hyatt around 2006. It is beautifully maintained and the staff were friendly and professional. There is a huge table of fresh flowers at the entrance that is meticulously maintained (and my wife kept asking to no avail for the ones they throw away so she could keep them and dry them).
Of course, you can stay at much cheaper places in Ho Cho Minh City, including some nice Marriott and Hilton properties or Airbnbs. But, if you’re only here once (which probably is true for us), you might as well splurge for an iconic luxury property when it’s reasonably affordable with points compared to a similar property in Europe or North America.
