We took a taxi from the Conrad Centennial to the airport to try and burn the last of our Singapore dollars. In the end, we probably could have done without them as almost every food center stall took Apple Pay or something equivalent.
We arrived at Terminal 2 at 6am. There was no wait to go through exit immigration at that hour. We went to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge, not to be confused with the Singapore Airlines Gold Lounge, which is right next door and meant for Star Alliance Gold members. My research before our trip indicated that the SilverKris Lounge had better food.
The lounge had a nice spread of food, including Asian and Western specialties. There was a decent espresso machine. The only negative was that there’s no natural light in the lounge.

The bathrooms in the lounge also have separate shower rooms. The outlets (as we found everywhere in Singapore) were universal, so no adapter was needed.
As I knew we had a very long walk to our gate from the lounge, I requested a wheelchair for my wife so she could rest her ankle. We walked and wheeled over to the gate around 8am for our scheduled 8:45am departure.
As is apparently typical in Singapore, security screening was at the gate and it was fairly quick. Our flight ended up being delayed about 20 minutes as they towed the plane over to the gate around 8:10am.
This flight was booked with 24k Singapore miles per person. I had originally transferred those points over from Amex when I first booked the trip. When I canceled the original trip, there was a $75 fee per ticket that I got reimbursed by travel insurance (due to my wife’s surgery). It probably wasn’t necessary to fly in business class for such a short trip, but miles don’t increase in value over time so we might as well burn them.
SQ164 SIN-SAI
Scheduled: 8:45-9:50 (-1 hour)
Actual: 9:16-10:05 (-1 hour)
Flight time: 1:49
We boarded the 737-Max8 when they made the pre-boarding announcement. When I first booked our trip, I was able to snag the “throne” seats on this aircraft, but when I rebooked everything, those seats were no longer available. Still, it was a very nice seat for a 2 hour regional flight.

As you can see, this is a lay flat seat with a big screen and overhead air vents, which were appreciated on this warm morning in Singapore. Preflight beverages of orange juice or water were offered.
Breakfast was served after takeoff. We had both booked the cook again and ordered the Singaporean specialty, Nasi Lemak. I ordered an iced coffee to go with it.

We also received yogurt and a croissant.

It was a delicious breakfast. My wife commented that it was better than anything she had on the long transpacific flight a few days earlier.
As per all Singapore Airlines flights, Wi-Fi in business class was free and worked as soon as we reached 10,000 feet. There was also live TV among the in-flight entertainment selections.
After breakfast, I reclined my seat almost all the way and rested for a bit. We landed in Cambodia at 10:01am and had a short taxi to our gate.
The Siem Reap/Angkor International Airport is brand-new and it looked like we were the only flight arriving at that time.

We were quickly through immigration and customs as I had applied for visas in advance (you can get a visa on arrival if you prefer) and we had no checked bags at that point in our trip. Now it was on to Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.
Up Next: Visiting Angkor Wat & Siem Reap
