SE Asia Trip Part 1 – United Polaris Lounge LAX Review

View of Terminal 6 from the Polaris Lounge

After a nice weekend in the San Diego area, it was time to start our trip to South East Asia. We drove up to LAX from Oceanside in a rental car. We returned the car around 6:30pm and took the shuttle over to LAX. We were able to check-in online for our Singapore Airlines flight so we already had boarding passes. My plan was to go to the Bradley Terminal and visit the Star Alliance Lounge for a few hours prior to the flight.

As I posted about previously, we struck out when we attempted to go to In-n-Out near LAX for a burger before we returned the car. As we were riding the shuttle bus around the slow loop toward the Bradley Terminal, I realized that we could actually visit the United Polaris Lounge in Terminal 7 as we had a Star Alliance business class ticket. I asked my wife if she minded making the trek around from T7 to Bradley after the lounge as it would be quite a long walk and she was in an ankle boot. She was craving a burger more than worried about the walk so she agreed to the plan.

We got off the shuttle at T7 and breezed through security with Clear and Pre-Check. It was not very busy at 7pm on Easter Sunday. We found the Polaris Lounge and went straight to the dining area to peruse the menu.

We both ordered the burger and I also ordered the tomato salad as an appetizer. My wife ordered some wine and I got the old-fashioned.

The burgers were excellent as we remembered from our prior Polaris Lounge visit in Houston. Keep in mind there is also a small buffet to supplement the sit-down restaurant or for visitors that are in a hurry. We also ordered the warm cookie for dessert to share.

After dinner, we found some more comfortable seats near the windows and watched some shows on our iPads while we relaxed. I got some more drinks from the staffed bar.

The lounge was fairly quiet most of the time we were there (7-10pm) although it got a bit busier toward the end of the evening as I suppose there are some later LAX-EWR/IAD and international redeyes on United with Polaris seats.

When it was time, we gathered our things and made the trek from T7 to Bradley. It’s a long walk but at least it’s all airside so you can skip security at the Bradley terminal. As it was getting close to boarding time and my wife’s ankle was bothering her after the long walk, we skipped the Star Alliance lounge on this visit.

We found our Singapore Airlines gate and waited to board our 17 1/2 hour flight to Singapore. This was going to be by far our longest flight ever.
