2023 Travel Year in Review

As you can see, I traveled quite a bit this past year. I was on a plane for almost a week or about 2% of the year.

We all started the year in Doha as we took an overnight New Year’s Eve flight from Chicago to begin our safari trip to Kenya. My wife and I also visited Kauai in August and Liverpool in April. We took our youngest to Ireland in October, and I went back to the UK for another football trip at the end of November.

Most of my travel was domestic and focused on the east coast between Atlanta and New York, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Hartford and Florida. Although the map shows visits to Chicago, Houston and Salt Lake City, those were only for airport connections.

For 2024, things are looking pretty light so far. We have our big trip to SE Asia coming up in the first half of April. I’m headed to San Antonio in late April for a points and miles meetup and we have graduation in May in New Jersey. We also have a couple of NYC trips planned in May/June. That’s all I currently have calendared, although I’m sure there will be a bunch more trips booked as our plans evolve.
