Suite Life of Football Part 6 – Leeds v Middlesbrough Executive Box

Elland Road, Leeds

On Saturday morning, my brother and I took the train to Leeds from Liverpool (about 1 hour and 20 minutes) and were met by our cousin. Another cousin drove us over to Elland Road, home of Leeds United, currently in the Football League Championship, the division just below the Premier League. Our cousin had secured executive box seats for us through a friend who worked for one of Leeds United’s sponsors, including food and drinks.

We had a quick pre-match pint at an historic pub across from the stadium, before walking over to the stadium. It’s obvious that Elland Road is in need of a bit of an upgrade, so hopefully if Leeds get promoted again, the 49ers (yes, those 49ers) who own the club will spend some money on the stadium.

We were shown to our executive box which had a table for 12 and the menu was on the table.

I ended up having the smoked salmon and the cod. Both were quite tasty. In fact, I would say the cod was better than the beef I had at Anfield in the Executive Lounge. In case you’re wondering, “Yorkshire caviar” is mushy peas.

Cousins before the match

We enjoyed the match as Leeds won 3-2. We had a great view of both the match and the chilly sunset over the hills.

After the match, we stayed and chatted with our cousin for a while and then headed to the train station to catch our train back to Liverpool. It was a fun experience to catch an extra match and see our cousin for the day in Leeds.
