I had checked all of us in via British Airways’ website and we all had mobile boarding passes. I mistakenly thought we also had to check-in at the desk and show our passports so we waited in line around 15 minutes to do that. As it turned out, we could have just gone directly to the lounge and shown our passports there as we were not checking bags.
Security was fairly quick at that hour (around 4pm) and past security, we found our way up the elevator to the British Airways Club Lounge. I had fairly low expectations for this lounge in the oldest remaining part of Newark Airport, but surprisingly it was quite nice.
The lounge has a few different sections. There’s a large main seating area with a coffee bar and small buffet near the entrance. This main area is split by a large staffed bar and has window views of the apron along one wall. There is also a separate dining area with a large buffet and tables, as well as a small dining area for First Class passengers, but I didn’t see whether this section was open when we were there.

You could also order food and drinks to your seat from a small menu accessible by QR Code.

The buffet was fairly extensive with salads, hot dishes and desserts.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there was also a very loud couple both separately video-chatting with no earphones, but there seems to always be a few of those types in every lounge. The drink selection was better than I expected for a business lounge with Monkey Shoulder and other small batch bourbons available.
Boarding was announced in the lounge around 5:20pm and we took the short walk down to our gate where we boarded in Group 1 with the other business class passengers. We enjoyed our short visit to this lounge, and it was a comfortable place to wait for our trip across the Atlantic.
